Tapestry and the Rose of Sharon

Tapestry

I’ve heard it said before that life is like a tapestry. Experiences and people interwoven; leading to the completion of the work.

I know it’s not a tapestry I’m making but this stitching project has been on my pending list for more than a couple of years now. It was a gift from my mum, who loved this hobby to a fault. She had managed to frame and display quite a number of her works around the house. She had left this one for me to work on for a special (and meaningful, without her knowing it) purpose. It’s called, “The Rose of Sharon” — it’s something dear to me in so many ways.

With this simple task, I’ve managed to pick up a few insights on life.

Starting from where I left off was a bit awkward at first but, after a few minutes, I got back my rhythm.

Mistakes can be made when distractions are present.

Patience is more important than speed.

Celebrating even the small accomplishments.

You’ve got to keep yourself inspired by the bigger picture.

There’s no one way to go about a stitch, or even remedy a mistake; sometimes, winging it works.

Believe that threads are properly allocated, just follow the signs and everything will fall into its rightful place.

All things will come to its completion.

It’s remarkable to realise that everyday we hold a thread which will bring us closer to the finished art we call our lives. It’s also fantastic whenever I get to see life in a less complex manner but rather in a positive light, in a productive way.

Amazing, isn’t?
